Description
For the first time in Colombia, a seminar dedicated entirely to the exploration of vocal improvisation will take place. The seminar will feature five renowned improvisers from the global scene: the legendary Joey Blake (US), a very close collaborator of Bobby McFerrin since the 90s; the renowned India-born, New York-based singer Annette Philip “Zahara”; the award-winning Portuguese beatboxer Rizumik; the acclaimed Portuguese singer Sofia Ribeiro; and the multitalented Colombian musician Juan Andrés Ospina. The workshop will also include the participation of two top local musicians: Colombian multifaceted musician Nicolás Ospina and the versatile Argentine Solange Prat.
During the seminar, vocal improvisation will be explored without being tied to a specific musical genre or the usual academic requirements. The seminar is aimed at all people who enjoy singing and are curious about expanding their vocabulary and who are seeking creative expressions different from the usual ones. There will also be a Circle Singing session and an improvised concert with the instructors and some seminar guests.
All workshops and activities will take place at the music school EMMAT (Bogotá, Colombia), between 9am and 7:30pm. The workshop price doesn’t include meals nor housing.
